Boursin

A staple in French kitchens since 1957, served with crusty French bread, Boursin® makes the perfect continental lunch or can be enjoyed with crackers as an ‘any time’ treat. Part of the Boursin® ritual is of course teasing back its silvery foil wrapper to reveal a rich, fresh, indulgent cheese.

Boursin® today

Over fifty years later, Boursin® continues to be enjoyed by cheese-lovers around the world and is now officially the UK’s number one soft speciality cheese. It is marketed under the same name across five continents in over 35 countries. Now available in five different versions including the original Boursin® Garlic and Herb and a choice of two different sized packs, this celebrated cheese has achieved international fame.

One cheese, four flavours

Using the finest seasonings, Boursin® is now available in four delicious flavours, just waiting to be discovered as a light tasty lunch with bread or as an indulgent snack at any time. All with the same unique, thick, creamy, crumbly texture, the four cheeses in the Boursin® family include: Boursin® Pepper with a gentle kick, the oh so French Boursin® Shallot and Chive, its low-fat cousin Boursin® Light (boasting only 9% fat). Fans love mini size Boursin® Portions for on-the-go convenience or standard size packs as a foodie’s fridge essential.

Garlic and Herb is the original flavour François Boursin® created, inspired by a long-standing traditional dish: fromage frais (fresh cheese) served with a bowl of fine herbs, meaning each diner could season their own cheese, exactly as they wanted.

The tradition of Boursin®

Back in 1957 in the Normandy town of Gournay, French cheesemaker François Boursin® created the famous brand that still bears his name today. Boursin® is the winning result of a celebrated cheese-making tradition and expert know-how, combining garlic, cream, milk, herbs, salt and pepper to produce a fresh, distinctive taste. Revolutionising the fresh cheese market in France, Boursin® quickly developed into an indispensable product in the French shopping basket, becoming the first cheese featured in a TV advertising campaign in 1968 with its now famous slogan, "Du pain, du vin, du Boursin®” (Some bread, some wine and some Boursin®).
